Couples Counseling
All across Virginia
I work with all couples (non-married, married, soon-to-be married) repair and strengthen their connections to each other. We often find healing and support within our romantic partnerships, but these relationships can also sometimes bring conflict, disconnection, and difficulty. Partners might consider counseling after major transitions or changes within the relationship, when they find themselves stuck in a pattern they can’t get out of, or even when they’re wondering if the relationship should continue. Whatever brings you in for couples therapy, I will support your relationship as you discover what brings greater joy, intimacy, and safety between you and your partner.

Couples session begins with an assessment, which consist of 4 sessions: one collaborative session with both parties, two individual sessions to learn about each partner and their individual story, needs, desires and experiences, and a fourth session, to discuss specific treatment recommendations.
Sessions will include assisting the couple with identifying their strengths, areas for improvement and develop a formula that the couple can implement to enhance the quality of their relationship. These sessions are approximately 60-75 minutes each. Upon completion of the assessment phase, the parties will decide the best plan for moving forward.

The first 3 to 6 months of couple’s recovery are usually the most stressful. Both partners will experience a wide range of powerful feelings. We can help you determine your needs in the relationship and what steps you need to take to get them met. We will discuss positive actions you can take to help each of you feel valued and important in your relationship.
