Mental Health for women in Virginia

Because you matter too

What if you took care of

yourself

as well as you do everyone else?

As women, we struggle with our own unique set of challenges not always understood by others. So many of us spend our time and energy taking care of everyone and everything but ourselves.

Juggling work, school, family, kids, household tasks and keeping up with the expectations of society is hard.  Adding in depression, anxiety, and struggles with mood makes it even harder.

There’s often not much left at the end of the day to take care of yourself. I could preach all day the importance of self care.

You deserve to feel safe and comfortable with who you are and be able to share that person with the people around you.

  • You thought it would be so easy. It seems so easy for everyone else. You might think, why me? How do I keep going? It just isn’t fair.

I am here to explore your emotions around your infertility journey. I understand the complexities and emotions involved with an infertility diagnosis. The impact that infertility has on a relationship is unique to other challenges, and I am here to navigate that with you. Whether it is individually or with your partner, you need extra support that the doctors and medical staff just cannot provide. I am here with you.

  • You might have imagined a pregnancy filled with joy and excitement. As the months progressed, you started to experience small shifts in your mood and an uneasy feeling in your body. You thought this was normal because your body was changing and this would go back to normal once the baby arrived. You look around you for clues and ways to change these feelings, but nothing is working. You are afraid you might develop postpartum depression and want to be healthy for your baby. I hear you and want to help you develop the strategies to fight through these difficult times.

  • You’re a long way from the excitement and joy that you felt when you discovered you were pregnant – there is a huge reality gap between the idea of motherhood that you imagined and the reality that you are living. In a world that expects mothers to be superwomen, it’s hard to admit that you can’t do everything, and, sometimes, even managing the basics seems impossible.

You may feel alone and questioning why you are not feeling "bonded" with your baby.

I can help you regain your trust in your own instincts and provide you with concrete strategies to manage the challenges that often accompany motherhood so that you can begin to enjoy this precious (and challenging!) time.

  • Being a parent is really f*&king hard. And being able to be the kind of parent you want your kids to have takes work (especially when they have learned to press all your buttons!).

We will celebrate what you are already doing that is going well, and get curious about what isn’t. We work together to develop strategies and bolster up support to help you show up for yourself and your kids.

I will support you to feel more grounded among the chaos and more confident to tackle the ups and downs of this new season of life. You are already a great parent and I want to help you see that, feel that and believe that.

I’m here to support you

No matter where you are in the journey
